Homework Station

Back to School Post #1

It is very rare for my kids not to have homework during the week so it is a must to have a go to place for them to sit, focus, and have everything that they need right there.

That is why we have a home work station.

My kids sit at the kitchen table because it is big enough for everyone to gather around and there are no distractions.

I keep everything that the kids need right by the table so there is no running around the house looking for pencils, pens, crayons, sharpeners... you get the idea. My kids do home work right after school so I keep the snack jar at the homework station as well.

Here are some pictures!

All of the "Main tools" in the center of the table.

The chalk table came in handy BIG TIME last school year.
Here are the before and after pictures of that project.

Shelf in the corner for other home work tools, snacks, and baskets for library books and movies. I love the baskets because when library days come around, we don't have to go hunting down library books that use to get put on the boys book shelf! We grab the baskets and pop them in the car so everything is right there for the book drop!
Do you have any ideas for our homework station?
I would LOVE to hear them!

Great idea! I tried this idea last year. It was not half as cool as yours and I never thought to do a chalkboard table. Genius! Great job and thanks for the inspiration!

Love this idea. I had "caddies" for each of my sons last year - became more frustrating than anything to keep clearing out the junk that found its was into the caddy (ie McD's toys, plastic doo-dads from Bday parties, etc...)

Will try to simplify the whole arrangement.

Thanks for the words of encouragement.

Take care,
Alison
